“Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings:it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.”- William Wordsworth
I am no Wordsworth,Shelley,Browning or Keats, but they are always my inspiration, whenever I am writing a verse. The poems I write come directly out of my heart. They are the expressions of my intensely felt emotions.
The commonest kind of poetry, which I write,is in the form of lyric.A lyric is a poem featuring a single speaker, whose purpose is to share a state of mind,a mood or attitude to his readers. As Patrick Murray writes in Literary Criticism-“In general term,it is its quality, its expression of individual thought and feeling that gives lyrical poetry it’s character.” Ruskin defined it as “the expression by the poet of his own feelings.”
The chief characteristics which my poems possess are:they are short, simple in language and treatment. There are specific number of lines or stanzas, either a couplet, quatrain or a sestet with a rhyme scheme of aa,aabb or aabbcc. They have universal appeal,as anybody can understand them. Also being an optimist,my poems reflect optimism.Even if they begin with a somber mood, they always end on a positive note.
Please spare a few minutes for my poems.I am sure, they will touch your heart. To quote Edgar Allan Poe, “I would define,in brief, the Poetry of words as The Rhythmical Creation of Beauty.”
